Some people believe and teach that salvation can be lost if a person sins enough to nullify it. We believe the Bible indicates differently. Throughout the New Testament it is abundantly clear that when a person trusts Christ for salvation they receive "eternal life" (John 3:16; John 5:24; Romans 6:23; 1 John 2:25). Eternal life, by definition, is life that goes on forever. If eternal life could be lost, it would not have been eternal life. Jesus promises that our salvation is based on His faithfulness, not our faithfulness (John 10:27-30)

What if you accept Jesus as your savior, say as a child, but reject his existence later as an adult? Are you still saved?
ReplyDeleteGreat follow-up question.
ReplyDeleteAgain, Scripture indicates that if you trusted Christ as your savior, you have (present tense) eternal life (John 5:24). Jesus reiterates that nobody, not even ourselves, can snatch us from the Father's hand (John 10:27-30).
It is important to "examine yourself to see if you are in the faith" (2 Corinthians 13:5). If you can say with certainty that you trusted Christ as Savior as a child you should expect godly discipline (Hebrews 12:7-11) in this lifetime for rejecting His existence, but can live in constant gratitude that your salvation is not based on your faithfulness.
